The Swiss Commodity Trading Association SUISSENÉGOCE is a non-profit, non-political organisation. It represents the interests of those involved in trading, shipping, banks involved in the financing of raw materials, insurance companies, law firms, and affiliated service companies.

SUISSENÉGOCE, the Swiss Commodity Trading and Shipping Association is the preeminent industry body dedicated to representing and advocating for the interests of companies active in the commodity trading sector in Switzerland. With a pivotal role in the Swiss economy, contributing over 20% of tax revenues to the cantons of Geneva, Zug, and Ticino, and approximately 4.8% of Switzerland’s GDP, SUISSENÉGOCE is a driving force in the global commodity trading landscape.

Comprising more than 215 member companies, primarily located in the Lake Geneva region, Ticino, and Zug, SUISSENÉGOCE represents a diverse range of industries, including agriculture (cereals as well as coffee, cocoa, cotton), energy (fossil fuels, renewables, and energy transition), and minerals/metals (ferrous and non-ferrous metals). This collective strength positions SUISSENÉGOCE as a leading voice in shaping the future of the commodity trading industry, both within Switzerland and on the global stage.

SUISSENÉGOCE’s mission is rooted in three core pillars: advocacy and representation, communication, and education and training. Through its advocacy efforts, SUISSENÉGOCE actively engages with policymakers at all levels of government, ensuring that the voices of the Swiss commodity sector are heard and considered in decision-making processes.

The association’s communication initiatives play a crucial role in promoting a better understanding of the industry among the public, enhancing awareness of its significance, contributions to the Swiss economy, and its role in global supply chains.

Recognizing the importance of talent development and innovation, SUISSENÉGOCE places a strong emphasis on education and training through its dedicated SUISSENÉGOCE Academy. This comprehensive range of educational and training programs, delivered by experienced industry experts, provides participants with the practical insights and skills essential for success in the fast-paced and dynamic commodity trading environment.

It is better to be a rule shaper than a rule-taker!

Seb Landerretche

Président de SUISSENÉGOCE

SUISSENÉGOCE’s organizational structure ensures efficient operations and effective representation. The Executive Board, comprising industry leaders, provides strategic direction, while the Bureau, consisting of the President, Vice Presidents, and Secretary General, oversees day-to-day management. The Secretariat, led by the Secretary-General, serves as the operational backbone, facilitating various activities and initiatives.

The political positions of the association are developed, analyzed, and drafted within SUISSENÉGOCE’s five committees: the Regulation Committee, Shipping Committee, Trade Finance Committee, Communication Committee, and Human Resources Committee. These committees draw upon the expertise of member companies across agriculture, energy, and metals & minerals sectors to formulate industry positions, which are then ratified and approved by the Executive Board.

With a mission rooted in transparency, sustainability, and engagement, SUISSENÉGOCE serves as an inclusive platform for companies to collaborate, share knowledge, and promote best practices within the industry. Key pillars of SUISSENÉGOCE’s mission include knowledge and talent development, regulatory advocacy and public affairs, sustainability and best practices, and representation and networking. Through its multifaceted approach, SUISSENÉGOCE aims to foster a business environment that nurtures growth and innovation, ensuring the industry’s continued competitiveness and positive impact on the Swiss economy and society
